In honor of its latest album release "Shit, We’re 23," Morgantown regulars The Demon Beat will host a CD release show tonight.
According to bassist Tucker Riggleman, the new album will provide Demon Beat fans with the same style of music they know and love, but throwing another variable into the mix.
"We’re more of a live band, and we wanted to capture that fact on this new album," Riggleman said. "We’ve put out a few albums and EPs in the past, but we were never able to capture that live energy."
For its latest album, the band brought in some outside help.
"On this album, we worked with a producer in New York City and recorded together all in the same room," Riggleman said. "This provided us with the sound we were looking for, and the results were great."
Riggleman, along with fellow members Adam Meisterhans and Jordan Hudkins make up The Demon Beat, a trio based out of Shepherdstown, W.Va.
However, the group has gained a sizeable following in the area.
"We’ve put in time and effort over the years, and it feels good to be getting appreciation for all the hard work," Riggleman said. "It’s just been a great time. We love performing and getting the crowd into the show."
To help promote the new album, the group is taking its show on the road to towns that have special meaning to the band.
"Our three biggest fan bases are easily in Morgantown, Shepherdstown and Huntington," Riggleman said. "Because of this, we’re going to be performing CD release shows in all three towns, to show our fans appreciation and give them a first look at our new music."
The trio will perform the Morgantown show at 123 Pleasant Street, a venue that Riggleman says has played a role in the band’s popularity in the area.
"We’ve been playing at 123 for a while now, and it’s been a great venue for us," Riggleman said. "Morgantown, in general, has provided us with one of our best fan bases, so performing here is almost natural by now."
Performing with The Demon Beat tonight are Morgantown regulars It’s Birds and Houston-based rock group Motion Turns It On.
"It’s going to be a good time," Riggleman said. "All the bands will really be into the show, and it should bring out a high energy performance."
The Demon Beat CD release show is tonight at 10. There is a $5 cover charge.
