Tailpipes is an old fashioned diner-style restaurant with a modern twist and will be the newest addition to the High Street strip of businesses located in downtown Morgantown, W.Va.

With the motto, "A modern take on the classic burger and shake shop," Tailpipes has put a spin on the old-time burger and shake diner and plans to serve up a wide variety of unique burger styles and shake flavors.

With an interior design setup owner/head chef Bart Hibbs describes as "50's diner meets car garage," including classic black and white checked flooring and light fixtures made from car mufflers, Tailpipes is the first of its kind in the downtown Morgantown area.

Though owner Bart Hibbs does take pride in the unconventionality of his new restaurant, he is most proud of the high quality products used and the diner's ability to appeal to a diverse audience.

"Everything we use here is very high quality so you're getting the best products at the best price," Hibbs said. "We bake fresh bread everyday and never use frozen meats. We also make fresh cut fries."

Hibbs expects to see a diverse crowd of customers at Tailpipes, not only due to his belief that "no matter your age or taste, everyone likes a good burger," but because of the restaurant's flexible operating hours.

The up-and-coming diner plans to operate seven days per week and open every day at 11 a.m. for the convenience of working professional's lunch hours, and closing around 4:30 a.m. to appeal to Morgantown's student nightlife.

The Tailpipes menu is divided into two sections: Build Your Own Burger and Signature Style Burgers. The diner offers a vast array of toppings that allows customers to be creative when building their own hamburgers and has 20 different gourmet, signature hamburgers like Cajun, Hawaiian, Greek and Extra Spicy – "if you think you can handle it."

The restaurant will also offer a wide variety of shakes to accompany its burgers, playing up its 50's diner influence. However, Tailpipes isn't just serving up vanilla and chocolate shakes but is incorporating soda fountain drink flavors, alongside unique shake flavorings like ginger syrup, mango puree and fresh coconut milk.

"We're really excited about opening. We are definitely unique in our ideas and have a slight edge to us," Hibbs said of his new restaurant. "There aren't a lot of places out there like us but whatever you're into – we've got it."

Tailpipes plans to open Jan. 4 and is located on High Street next to Slight Indulgence.
