With Halloween quickly approaching, some may find it difficult to purchase costumes online and receive them in time for the holiday’s festivities. However, Morgantown is home to several costume shops that offer everything from costumes to shoes and makeup to help students put together hundreds of last minute ensembles. Everyday’s A Party, located at 3119 University Ave., is one such shop. The store, which is a self-proclaimed "Halloween Costume Superstore," has aisles full of costumes and Halloween decor. Ali Perkins, assistant manager ofthe store, said a large number of college students have been coming to the store to look for ideas and put together costumes. "From the time we first opened (in September 2008) to around August, it was mainly adults bringing their children here," she said. "But students are finding out about us more, and they’re coming to get more costumes lately." According to Perkins, the biggest trend this year seems to be "The Wizard of Oz" outfits, with "generic costumes like witches, nurses and cops" also acting as big sellers. "I didn’t think people would go for the generic ones, but I guess that’s what they like," she said. The store also is aimed at the 18-year-old to 25-year-old age range, Perkins said. "We ordered more of the sexy costumes because of that," she said. The store’s hours have extended this month because of Halloween. This week, the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. While October is one of the busiest months for the store, Everyday’s A Party stays open year-round, and Perkins said students come in on a regular basis to buy costumes and decorations for different parties. "A lot of people have themed parties, so a lot of times people come in for pimp and gangster costumes for those," she said. Perkins said many students, especially males, value the store’s late hours on Oct. 31. "Halloween is actually when all the guys come in to get their costumes," she said. "They will come in, and we will have a line out the door that night." Josh Smallwood, a senior studying political science and French, was impressed by the store’s variety. Smallwood, who went to the store to find a fake mustache, did not make a purchase but would recommend students go there for a last-minute costume solution. "I just thought that it was ridiculous, honestly," he said. "There was a lot of stuff."
