The top 12 contestants on season nine of "American Idol" started off the finals round Tuesday with classic rock songs by The Rolling Stones.
The majority of the singers greatly improved since their performances during the semi-finals.
The standout performance of the evening was sang by 20-year-old glass-blowing apprentice Siobhan Magnus.
Magnus chose to sing the tune "Paint it Black," one of the Stones’ darkest songs. She brought serious drama to the stage and delivered her own unique rendition of the song that was a mix between "Phantom of the Opera" and something out of a Tim Burton movie.
The transitions from verses to chorus to the build up at the end of the song proved Magnus’ professional ability.
The unbelievable note she was able to hit at the song’s end was an eye-opener for the judges and viewers, proving once again she has the biggest range among the contestants this year.
Other highlight performances from the evening came from front-runner Crystal Bowersox’s version of "You Can’t Always Get What You Want," former waitress Didi Benami’s take on "Play with Fire" and Lee Dewyze’s "Beast of Burden."
Wednesday’s show included performances by famous artists as well.
Returning to the stage first was winner of season seven’s "American Idol," David Cook, who sang his new song "Jumping Jack Flash."
Pop/rock artist Orianthi, who is famous for her guitar playing skills in Michael Jackson’s "This Is It" tour/movie, sang her hit song "According to You."
Kesha also performed her current single, "Blah Blah Blah," including the song’s featured artist, 3OH3.
After the nationwide vote, last night’s results show revealed the bottom three contestants to be Paige Miles, Tim Urban and Lacey Brown.
Urban was sent back to the couches first, leaving the bottom two as Miles and Brown.
In the end, Brown had the lowest amount of votes and therefore was left in 12th place.
She was given one last chance to perform for the coveted "judge’s save" and sang Brandi Carlile’s "The Story" again.
Unfortunately for Brown, all four judges unanimously said she didn’t deserve the save.
Judges and voters made the right decision by sending her home because she isn’t up to "Idol" standards.
The remaining 11 finalists are set to sing songs from a "Teen Idol" theme Tuesday at 8 p.m.
