Musical ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ comes to WVU

Rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" is at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

The famous biblical musical depicts the last week of Jesus’ life and ends with his crucifixion.

Written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the unique show has been on the Broadway scene since the '70s.

The production has been nominated for several Tony Awards including Best Original Score and Best Scenic Design and won the Drama Desk Award for Most Promising Composer in 1972.

Musical numbers include "I Don’t Know How to Love Him," "Hosanna," "Everything’s Alright," "What’s the Buzz?," "Superstar" and "Heaven on Their Mind."

General admission ticket prices are $38 to $45. WVU student tickets cost $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Mountainlair Box Office and the CAC Box Office.
