Morgantown now has another pizzeria trying to get a slice of business from local residents.
Rosa Pizza & Pasta opened Feb. 18 at 241 Walnut St., across the street from the Blue Moose Cafe.
"It went really well. We advertised and there was a lot of word of mouth," said Salvatrice Pitruzzella, the eatery’s owner. "There is a lot of visual traffic in this area."
Rosa Pizza & Pasta features entrees, pizza, pasta and salads, and customers can choose from three different crust styles for the pizza, including traditional crust choices like Chicago-style, deep dish and Sicilian.
The restaurant also features something not many other Italian eateries do: gluten free and whole wheat crusts.
The restaurant has the standard variety of toppings for its pizza, ranging from meat to fresh veggies. There are also gourmet specialty pizza options.
"It’s all homemade since 1969. It’s a family recipe," Pitruzzella said.
The menu also includes strombolis and calzones, and customers can build their own.
The restaurant’s pastas are oven baked and come with garlic bread and either soup or a salad.
The salad menu ranges from tossed salads to a Mediterranean tuna salad.
Bethany Evans, a pre-marketing major at West Virginia University, likes the new business.
"I was a little bit surprised it wasn’t a sit-down or eat-in place," Evans said. "After a short wait for the pizza, it was definitely worth it."
The location is conveniently downtown, so if you have a break between classes or are just craving some good food, it is only a few steps away, Pitruzzella said.
The restaurant also offers delivery.
If you are looking for "top-notch, authentic Italian food, give Rosa Pizza & Pasta a shot," Pitruzzella said.
