In celebration of the show’s 20th anniversary, Fox’s prime-time programs will contain references to “The Simpsons” this week. Viewers who spot the references and enter the contest are eligible to win numerous prizes, including a trip to Los Angeles.

Caution: If you’re watching "Glee" Wednesday and think you’ve just seen Homer Simpson’s head in the background, you’re not going insane.

In an effort to celebrate "The Simpsons’" 20th anniversary, Fox has developed a scavenger hunt throughout all of its prime-time programs.

According to a company press release, a grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to Los Angeles to attend a table read with the voice cast and producers, a home entertainment system, show DVDs, merchandise and tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood, home of "The Simpsons Ride."

"There are different clues in different Fox shows," said Al Jean in an on-air promo. "There are references to the show, but they won’t be animated or stick out. You’ll have to be sharp to spot them."

That could, of course, mean anything.

"The Simpsons" has permeated much of our culture for the last 20 years. The show, its characters and its settings are so ingrained into our pop culture lexicon it’s actually hard to imagine a time without Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa or Maggie.

A promo video gave some subtle hints as to what the shows could feature as homages to the show’s clues.

A scene from "House" showed an on-screen arrow reading "Imagine if this was Duff," referring to Homer’s brew of choice.

But then, if this is truly a scavenger hunt, it would have to be far, far more complex. Especially if you want to win the grand prize. Which I do.

This means for us to think beyond the obvious. "House" already features a portrait of Stephen Colbert on his bookshelf (Colbert has a picture of House on his bookshelf), and it took me a few episodes to realize what it was.

There are so many iconic features that make "The Simpsons" identifiable.

Surely, someone, in some episode, will say "D’oh!" That will be an easy clue to get us hooked and interested in the rest of the shows. If anything, it could make me want to watch "Fringe."

What could "Glee" do to honor the show? Could it give us a smashing, harmonic recitation of 1992’s "Do The Bartman?" I couldn’t imagine it singing the "101 Dalmations" and "Beauty and the Beast" parody "See My Vest" from 13 seasons ago.

Perhaps someone will come from a town named Springfield. Maybe someone will work at a nuclear factory as a safety technician (this is very possible in "House"). Maybe someone will even be in an election with someone named Quimby.

Happy hunting.
