Tim McGraw has taken over the country music scene since his debut in the early '90s.
With hits like "Indian Outlaw" and "I Like It, I Love It" embedded in the minds of country music fans and a marriage to songstress Faith Hill, it seems like McGraw has already accomplished a full slate on Music Row.
But with two kids already back at home, McGraw has been performing and releasing new music less and less lately.
So for his latest album, "Southern Voice," the 43-year-old McGraw has pulled out all the stops to rekindle the success he encountered earlier in his career.
With "Southern Voice," McGraw seems to expand his musical repertoire, producing new music and new sounds while still sticking to the formula that has made him one of the most recognizable names in country music.
"It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You," the first single for "Southern Voice," was released to the radio this past summer, but the song never seems to get old.
Co-written by country music artist Brett James and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, "It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You" is a comical song telling the story of a husband or boyfriend whose wallet is getting more of a workout from his significant other that it's worth.
Conjuring up memories of a similar-sounding song, "Do You Want Fries With That," McGraw gives "It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You" a life of its own with his always tremendous vocals and sharp guitar playing.
The song also provides a good beat that gives fans a nice rhythm on the dance floor.
McGraw continues this trend in the album's second single, the title track "Southern Voice."
In what can only be described as a southern anthem, McGraw pays homage to southern icons and legendary locations and activities for the southern United States, and he does so in a very entertaining fashion.
McGraw also showcases his more delicate side in the song "If I Died Today."
Although it is quite a stirring song emotionally, I still can't get over the similarity to "Live Like You Were Dying."
Otherwise, the song provides an always interesting look into McGraw's emotions, something he has put on the table in previous songs.
"Southern Voice" is not the best album McGraw has put out, but his fans will not be disappointed with the new material.
