During the 2009 soccer season, it was uncommon for the West Virginia men's soccer team to score goals, let alone the three that they posted in a shutout victory over Robert Morris during Wednesday night's exhibition match.

In fact, it was the first time since the last game of the regular season in 2007 against Providence that WVU has scored more than two goals

Junior college transfer Uzi Tayou netted the first goal of the contest just over eight and half minutes into the contest as he directed a cross from his brother Franck Tayou.

In the second half, sophomore forward Peabo Doue found the back of the net again for the Mountaineers as he was able to corral a pass then bury it from inside the 18-yard box.

The Colonials looked to have brought the game closer with just more than 12 minutes remaining, but they had a goal overturned in the second half after the referee called a handball.

In the closing minutes of the match, defenseman Eric Schoenle headed a ball past Robert Morris goal keeper Toba Bolaji to finish the scoring on the evening

WVU dominated play and controlled the ball throughout the night as they held a an 18 to five advantage in shots.

With the victory, WVU finishes its exhibition slate with a 1-0-1 record.

The Mountaineers will now set their sights on their opening game against No. 9 Monmouth. The Hawks finished last season with an 18-1-1 record in the regular season and advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.
