A Speak Up forum hosted by West Virginia University’s Student Government Association will be held tonight to hear students’ concerns on health, wellness and club sports.

Speak Up is an initiative to reach out across campus and encourage students to give their input about important issues, according to Becky Davis, SGA communications director.

"We will be covering a lot of important issues on campus that are in need of adjustments with students’ input," she said. "One of the big topics right now is the swine flu epidemic. Speak Up is a great way for students to get involved with what is going on at WVU."

Faculty within the health and wellness field will be present to answer questions concerning the H1N1 virus, according to Davis.

Following the Speak Up event is the first meeting of SGA Across Campus. At the beginning of the fall semester, SGA announced earlier that one meeting a month will be held in different locations around campus.

"SGA Across Campus was started to give students who can’t make downtown meetings a way to attend and see what (SGA) does," Davis said.

The Speak Up forum will run from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and the SGA meeting will run afterwards from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Both events will be held in Multipurpose Room A of the Student Recreation Center.
