Dear Students:

What an exciting weekend this will be for all Mountaineers!

On Saturday, WVU will kick off one of the most anticipated football seasons in history as a new member of the Big 12 Conference.

Our opponent will be the Marshall University Thundering Herd, and we are urging all of you to make our university and our team proud by positively representing WVU and its athletic program this weekend – and every home football weekend.

We believe WVU Athletic Director Oliver Luck said it best: "The platform that the Big 12 gives us will allow our University to shine very brightly on a very big stage. With the opportunity comes the responsibility to put our University and our state in the best possible light."

As you are making your way to the stadium, be sure to stop by the Student LOT across from the Ronald McDonald House for free food, entertainment and giveaways. The LOT opens three hours prior to kick-off.

Remember to do your part this weekend in treating everyone with respect, including opposing fans, players, coaches, and game officials – before, during and after the game.

This includes handling both victory and defeat with class.

Also, get to the game early and don’t forget to bring your ticket and student ID.

Lastly, stay until the end and join the team in singing "Country Roads"! For those of you not interested in football or other sports, or you just want to take this time to study, enjoy the weekend, or hang out with friends, we want to extend best wishes for a very successful year.

Be safe and have a great weekend! Let’s Go Mountaineers!
