Gymnastics’ Meaden earns EAGL honor

WVU junior Faye Meaden was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

The specialist notched a career-high 9.75 on bars to tie for sixth place. She also scored a 9.675 on floor to help the Mountaineers scored a 194.475 against William & Mary and No. 15 Michigan Feb. 5.

The team also maintained its top 20 on the floor, coming in at No. 17 in the latest GymInfo poll. Junior Amy Bieski is ranked 45th nationally on the event.

As a whole, the team ranks 27th in the nation while holding top 10 rankings in the southeast region on all four events. The team came in No. 2 on floor, fourth on vault, sixth on bars and sixth on beam. WVU will be back in action Friday at home against Ohio State.
