The West Virginia women’s basketball team continued its climb in the both the Associated Press and Coaches’ Polls this week after falling to No. 1 Connecticut 80-47 Feb. 2 and defeating Providence 75-59 Saturday. The Mountaineers moved up two spots to No. 9 in this week’s AP poll and No. 8 in the Coaches’ Poll. It’s the highest the program has been ranked in either poll. West Virginia is one of five Big East Conference teams ranked in the AP top 25 poll. The Big East sits behind the Big 12 Conference, which has seven teams ranked inside the AP top 25.
