This story is part of the Small Business Spotlight series. This project explores the impact of the small businesses that’ve taken root in Morgantown and have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. In 2019, small businesses accounted for almost 99% of West Virginia’s businesses and about 49% of the state’s employees, according to the United States Small Business Administration. Additional reporting from the Washington Post shows that more than 100,000 small businesses permanently closed since the pandemic’s start in March.
