A WVU student's body was found near the Rail Trail Saturday morning, according to a press release from Morgantown Police Department.

At 8:21 a.m. MPD responded to a call from someone believing there was a deceased person on the trail, near the Walnut Street Bridge.

The victim was identified as WVU student Arthur Bagenda, 19, according to John Bolt, director of University Relations. Bagenda was from Bethesda, MD and was studying psychology at the University. 

The University has reached out to Bagenda's family and his roommates, according to a statement from WVU.

"The University community is saddened by the tragic death of Arthur William Bagenda," the statement reads. "We send our thoughts and prayers to Arthur's family, and the Division of Student Life has already been in touch to offer support and comfort."

Morgantown Police said there were no further details available at this time.
