Coronavirus has been named “SARS-CoV-2," according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The first death from coronavirus in West Virginia has been confirmed.

Through the Marion County Health Department and United Hospital Center, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed on Sunday an 88-year-old woman from Marion County has died as a result of COVID-19, according to a DHHR press release.

To protect the patient’s privacy, no additional details will be released, according to the release.
