A pedestrian was killed on Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a delivery truck near the intersection of Listravia Avenue and Route 7, according to a Morgantown news release. 

Kayla Carder, 34, of Morgantown, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

At approximately 1:21 p.m. on Tuesday, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, according to the release. As officers were responding to the scene, additional information was provided to emergency personnel that the pedestrian was trapped under the vehicle.

Morgantown Police, Morgantown Fire and Mon EMS all arrived on scene and began to provide immediate medical attention, according to the release. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 International 4700 was backing east on Listravia Avenue in order to make a delivery, according to the release. 

At some point the pedestrian walked behind the vehicle and was not observed by the operator of the vehicle, according to the release. The vehicle struck and continued backing over the pedestrian.

This case is in the early stages of investigation, according to the release.
