The WVU Board of Governors amended its contract with Morgantown Energy Associates, a company that provides steam to WVU’s campus.

The Board amended the contract to permit a switch from coal waste to natural gas after Mon Power terminated its contract with Morgantown Energy Associates.

Morgantown Energy Associates asked the University to amend its contract, originally signed in 1989 and amended in 2012, to permit the use of natural gas and base the cost on the amount of gas used, according to WVU Today.

The amended agreement will expire in April 2027.
