A WVU student started his fall break with a wanton endangerment charge.

Blake Williams, a senior accounting student from Buckhannon, was arrested without incident, according to a Morgantown news release.

At approximately 3:18 a.m. on Thursday, the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of Snider Street, according to the release. Officers located several shell casings and determined that the people responsible for the discharge of the weapon were at 917 Snider St.

After getting a search search warrant for the residence, officers were able to recover a 9mm semi-automatic pistol along with live ammunition and additional spent casings, according to the release. Officers found a bullet hole that indicated that a round was fired through a closet wall and an interior wall and lodged into a recliner inside of the residence.

April Kaull, a WVU spokesperson, confirmed that Williams was a student.
