Following Saturday night’s victory over Wright State, the No. 24 West Virginia men’s soccer team will take on No. 17 Charlotte on Tuesday in the first matchup between the two programs.
The 49ers travel to Morgantown for their first road game of the season. The team holds an undefeated record.
Led by eighth-year head coach Kevin Langan, Charlotte has benefitted from a strong defensive unit so far this season. In their three games, the 49ers have only allowed one goal.
While the lone goal came in their Friday game against No. 12 Coastal Carolina, the Chanticleers were only able to get off eight shots in the double-overtime affair.
Offensively, the 49ers are led by senior midfielder Teddy Chaouche, who leads the team in goals with two.
The Mountaineers will counter with junior goalkeeper Steven Tekesky. In three games this season, he has allowed only two goals, saving 10 shots in the process.
On the offensive side of the ball, West Virginia has struggled in finding the back of the net. The team has averaged only one goal per game.
The opening kick of Tuesday’s game at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium will come at 7 p.m.
