The No. 3 ranked West Virginia University rifle team shot at the Bill McKenzie Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building on Saturday for the NCAA qualifying match.

VMI and North Georgia also shot its qualifying match at the same time as WVU. The scores will not count as a win or loss for the season, the score will factor into the teams’ overall standings and qualifying averages for the NCAA Rifle Championships.

It was also senior day on Saturday, the Mountaineers celebrated Morgan Phillips and Milica Babic. 

For top individuals Babic took first place and was followed by four other Mountaineers. In individual smallbore standings, freshman Akihito Shimizu took first for the Mountaineers, and then was followed by the two seniors, Phillips in second and Babic in third.

The Mountaineers all together had a score of 2331, putting them in first place. WVU was followed by North Georgia in second, and VMI in third. 

The NCAA Championships will be held in Lexington, KY on March 13 and 14.
