Traci Plungas, currently an assistant volleyball coach at Colgate University, is slated to join the Mountaineers as an assistant coach.
The hiring was announced by head volleyball coach Reed Sunahara on Wednesday.
“I’m excited to welcome Traci to our Mountaineer Volleyball Family,” Sunahara said in a release. “She is an up and coming coach that comes with high recommendations. She will bring great character to our program and mesh well with our student-athletes, staff and program goals.
“Traci is a big student of the game, and her passion for the sport and drive to succeed will help the WVU volleyball program continue its upward climb.”
Plungas comes to Morgantown after a two-year stint as an assistant at Colgate, where she helped lead the Raiders to a 24-8 overall record in 2019, including a 15-1 record in conference play.
Prior to coming to Colgate, Plungas served on the staff at the University of Albany from 2013-17. She played for the Great Danes from 2009-13.
She will serve as WVU’s recruiting coordinator.
