West Virginia went into Manhattan, Kansas Saturday and came away with a 3-1 win against the Kansas State Wildcats.
In the first set, WVU (9-8, 1-4 Big 12) trailed 21-18 before Kansas State (6-11, 1-4) rattled off four straight points to win the set.
In the second set, the score was tied at nine before the Mountaineers got six straight points to gain momentum and eventually take the set by a score of 25-17.
Building off the momentum, WVU would come out and take a 15-8 lead in the third and did not look back, taking the set 25-18.
With an opportunity to take the match, the Mountaineers took advantage. The set would stay close, with the largest advantage being the final score of 25-19.
Senior Katelyn Evans carried the Mountaineer offense with 22 kills for the match. The only other Mountaineer to register double figure kills was junior Audrey Adams with 10.
The defense was paced by junior Alexa Hasting with 19 digs. Freshman Natalie Winter contributed with 11.
The win snapped a 10-game Big 12 road losing streak.
WVU will step out of conference for one match when they go on the road and take on Morehead State on Tuesday. The match will begin at 6 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
