The West Virginia University lacrosse team came back from a three-goal defect to beat Texas Tech, 11-8, in the second game of the Big 12 Classic.
The Red Raiders (4-4) got out to as much as a 6-3 lead late in the second quarter, but a last second goal by freshman midfielder Ryder Lampert sent a message for West Virginia, making it a 6-4 Tech lead at the half.
WVU (2-0) would outscore Texas Tech 7-2 in the second half en route to a big win to remain undefeated.
Sophomore attackman phenom Jac Gemmil led the Mountaineers with three goals off of 10 shots. Senior midfielder Jon Welsh added two goals and two assists, giving him 10 points and the Big 12 Classic thus far. Freshman attackman Jake Klein added two goals as well.
Tristian McGongial impressed the crowd at Prosper High School, nabbing 16 saves for the Red Raiders.
The Mountaineers close out the Big 12 Classic with Oklahoma on Sunday. Face off is set for noon.
