West Virginia secured a very important victory over Kansas State on Sunday, 3-0. The win comes after WVU tied with No. 23 Kansas on Thursday.
The first half was a battle throughout with only 11 total shots between the two teams.
Freshman midfielder Gabby Robinson broke through for the Mountaineers with her first career goal at 41st minute of the first period. Aaliyah Scott was credited with the assist as West Virginia (9-6-2, 4-3-1 Big 12) took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
WVU continued its offensive attack in the second period with a goal from freshman forward Enzi Broussard at the 63rd minute. Less than two minutes later, senior Jade Gentile scored her second goal of the year to put West Virginia ahead, 3-0.
Kansas State (3-12-2, 1-7-0) finished the afternoon with 13 total shots with three on goal. WVU totaled 14 shots with eight on goal.
This was the final road match of the year for the Mountaineers as they finish 2-3-1 away from home.
Up next, West Virginia returns to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium to host the TCU Horned Frogs on Halloween night. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised on FS1.
