One day after the men’s team captured its Cancun Challenge Championship, the No. 23 West Virginia women’s basketball team began its slate of games in the women’s portion on Thursday. The Mountaineers lost their first game of the year to the Creighton Blue Jays on Thursday night, 82-75.

After five players scored in double-digits, the No. 25 West Virginia women’s basketball team improved to 4-0 with an 82-47 victory over the Coppin State Eagles on Thursday morning. 

After winning against Radford on Sunday to get to 3-0 on the season, the West Virginia women’s basketball team was rewarded with the No. 25 ranking in the AP Top 25 poll on Monday. 

In the second game of the 2019-20 season, the West Virginia women’s basketball team easily defeated the Presbyterian Blue Hose in a physical game, where the Mountaineers used rebounding to pull away in the second half.
