The West Virginia volleyball team started the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Duquesne on Friday night.

The Dukes (4-7) were able to keep the first two sets close, with WVU coming out on top 25-23 in the first and 25-22 in the second.  The final set ended in a 25-15 score.

The Mountaineers (6-4) were led offensively by junior Audrey Adams with 16 kills, followed by sophomore Kristin Lux with nine.  

The defense was paced by junior Alexa Hasting with 16 digs for the match.

The Duquesne offense was spread out evenly, with sophomore Summer Slade, junior Maria Mosbacher, and senior Liz Wayne each having 8eightkills for the match.

Defensively, junior Claire Boe led the Dukes with 19 digs.

The Mountaineers will be back in action at 10 a.m. Saturday when they take on Navy.
