On an unseasonably hot, humid day, the West Virginia cross country team showed out at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, hosted by Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania.
Following a third place finish at the Lehigh Invitational on Aug. 30, the Mountaineers followed that performance up with a fourth place finish on Friday out of five total teams.
Leading the way for the Mountaineers was junior Bree Warren, who finished with a time of 21:32.20 — the ninth highest overall.
Following Warren’s time, redshirt freshman Mikenna Vanderheyden finished 25th with a time of 22:24.00. Redshirt freshman Peyton Kukura followed with a time of 22:33.60, good for a 29th placed finish, while redshirt sophomore Marianne Abdalah, with a time of 22:45.20, ended up 30th.
The Mountaineers will next compete on Friday, Sep. 20 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania for the Lock Haven Invitational.
