The WVU women's basketball team will make their second straight appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

The Mountaineers will host Rider on Thursday at a time to be announced.

It will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Last season in the WNIT, West Virginia advanced all the way to the semifinals, cruising to wins over Bucknell, Saint Joseph's, James Madison and St. John's before losing to Virginia Tech.

If the Mountaineers defeat Rider, they will advance to play the winner of Friday's Villanova-Old Dominion game.

Other possible opponents later in the tournament include Northwestern, Ohio State, Toledo and Ohio University.

For WVU head coach Mike Carey, this season's appearance marks his third in the WNIT in the last five years.
