The West Virginia volleyball team completed its weekend participating in the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a win after starting the weekend with two straight losses.  

The Mountaineers started the weekend facing an undefeated Hawaii team, losing 3-1 after taking the first set.  Senior Katelyn Evans led the offense with nine kills, followed by juniors Audrey Adams with seven and Kristina Jordan and Briana Lynch who each had six.  The defense relied on junior Alexa Hasting and sophomore Kristin Lux with 16 and 13 digs, respectively.

WVU’s second game of the weekend featured a matchup with the UCLA Bruins, ending in a 3-0 defeat.  Jordan led the Mountaineers with 11 kills for the match. Hasting led the defense with 15 digs.

The weekend ended on a positive note, defeating Utah Valley 3-0.  The offense was paced by 13 kills from Lux and 12 from Jordan. Defensively, Hasting finished with 15 digs.

WVU is now 5-4 overall on the season.

The Mountaineers will be back in action this weekend when they host three teams in the Mountaineer Invitational, beginning with a matchup with Duquesne on Friday at 7 p.m.
