Behind a walkoff RBI walk by Marques Inman, the WVU baseball team picked up their third straight ranked Big 12 series win, with a victory over 15th-ranked Texas Tech, 4-3.
The Mountaineers (22-12, 6-5 Big 12) got out to scoring early with an RBI ground out by Inman to bring home Tyler Doanes. Ivan Gonzalez would double later in the inning to score Brandon White to put WVU up 2-0.
In the fourth and fifth innings, Texas Tech (22-11, 5-6) would take the lead, 3-2, with an RBI ground out and a two RBI single.
Late in the fifth, Gonzalez would tie it back up with a single to score Inman.
In the bottom of the ninth, Tech pitcher Dave Haveman loaded the bases for WVU with Tevin Tucker, Doanes, and Darius Hill on. The Red Raiders went to the bullpen and called up Clayton Beeter.
Beeter would toss four balls in a row with Inman at the plate to give WVU the win.
The series concludes on Sunday at noon at Mon County Ballpark.
